In 1977 I ordered a small collection of synthesizer modules from Serge Tcherepnin and added to this again in 1979. After 11 years of making electronic music on institutional systems, I finally had my own instrument. I was elated when I received it and immediately started making pieces. These "Serge Studies" were the first ones I recorded. I added simple controllers to this system and eventually made a patching system that could connect a complex general patch in a matter of seconds. As I expanded my palette over the years, the general class of sounds and sonic activities followed from these initial studies.
